The Woodworks Project was established in August 2014 to continue the successful furniture workshop project which previously ran for ten years under the umbrella of another well-known Bath charity.

During that time, the project helped over 200 of the most vulnerable and disadvantaged people in the local community to move forward with their lives, and since opening our doors again to clients as The Woodworks Project in September 2015, we have received over 150 referrals and become a highly respected organisation within the local health and social care network. We believe we have now established ourselves as the first name on peoples’ lips when they think of this kind of meaningful, challenging yet satisfying therapeutic activity.

At the start of the COVID pandemic 2020, The Woodworks Project moved to a new venue but had to place the charity in a state of hibernation, to preserve the charity and its clients. Since August 2021, the employment of a new CEO has restarted the charity to open the doors once more and create new and wonderful craft in wood and upholstery.

March 2022, Stephen Budd, one of the original founders of The Woodworks Project, stepped down and retired from the Board. With a new team in place we aim to continue the ethos that Stephen created originally while exploring new and exciting ventures and workshops for our clients to explore.

Roseberry Road Workshops: In early 2020, The Woodworks Project moved from its old venue in Victoria Park Business Centre to Roseberry Road. With more room, better access and parking, Roseberry Road is fully equipped with woodwork and upholstery tools and machines. The River Avon is situated at the back providing a tranquil and relaxing environment.

Sensory Garden: The back yard which overlooks the River Avon will be converted into a Sensory Garden, a place for our clients to enjoy texture, smells and taste as well as seek safe haven if needed. Between 2022-23, we will be raising funds to convert the yard into a garden. If you wish to donate funds, garden equipment, top soil, anything garden related, please contact Sharon Melling (Garden Project Lead) at sharon@thewoodworksproject.org.
